Hey there,
Lately (in the last 30,000 miles? I'm at about 175,000), my Dakota has been having some problems... it has some kind of a knock/backfire sometimes when I shift (usually when it's not warmed up yet), or even just when I drive in a lower gear.
Another strange thing is that, when my tank is low (less than about 1/3), it starts to hesitate whenever I try to accelerate, go up a hill, etc. It's as if it's having trouble getting enough gas.
Sometimes it is hard to start in the colder weather.

I wonder what's wrong with it? I think part of it could be the fuel filter, but how in the world can I change that (I'm not awesome with cars)? Any other ideas?
Thanks,
-Joe

Hmm, how much do you think that would run me? if the pump is inside the gas tank it's probably past my mechanical abilities...

Well, everything's a bit harder because I live in an apartment with no room to work on my truck, and probably not the right tools, and I don't have much money as I'm a college student.

Sounds like you are looking for a magic wand to fix this then ? Many of us have been down that road, I learned a lot about vehicles while in college. Including that it is often cheaper to buy the manual and buy or borrow some tools to keep the beaters I was driving going. I wonder if you might even be able to access the manual through your college library ? But if you can't do it yourself, the most reliable place to get a price estimate from is the shop that wil be doing the work. Good luck !

Due to your lack of intelligence and not even knowing that this was a discussion about a '94 model truck, you probably assumed that you would see something about Hanna Montana around here.

So piss off.
