The lights on my 91 Dodge Dakota stay on after I turn off the ignition, also the bright light indicator stays on. Is this the DRLM? and if so where is it located?

Are you thinking this isn't normal ? My '00 is the same; many of us turn the lights on and off manually. Not long ago, most vehicles worked like that.

In Canada we have what is known as daytime running lights. As soon as you start your vehicle during daytime hours the headlights will come on dim for all cars and trucks here, even with the light switch turned off. What I am saying is that even with the headlight switch off, the lights remain on after you turn off the ignition. DRLM=daytime running light module.

Well, actually that's for all vehicles built after a certain date; and I'm aware Canada implimented that before US. Now that you've clarified that you are in Canada, and have turned the switch off - Yes, it could be the DRLM. The way you phrased it initially, I was wondering if you were maybe just used to newer vehicles.

Passenger side, under hood, fender panel near the
firewall - see a 'module' , disconnect for now .
You may want to replace , because besides the
requirement , it will loose the Hi beam indicator
so the only way you can tell Hi or low is where
the lights light up the road..

You could try car-parts.com for used one
although they may not list it..

Thank you all. My friend went to an auto wrecker and picked up a module for $6 after phoning a dealership and finding out a new one is worth $120. He replaced the module which he said had some kind of black stuff oozing out of it and bud a bing, bud a boom now everything works as it should!
