I am having a new issue with my truck. It is a 2000 dak club cab 4.7 auto. The power door locks arent working properly. I cannot lock them with either of the switches or the alarm remote. The only time I can get any sort of automation out of them is if lock them manually, set my alarm, and than when I disarm my alarm they will unlock by themselves. It is the same thing when I turn off my truck, if I had locked them manually, when I turn the ignition off they will unlock. I dont understand it!! I dont see this as being an actuator problem as I have had that happen before, and this is affecting BOTH sides. I can unlock and lock the doors with the key or by hand no problem. I can hear a relay "pop" sound on the passenger side by the dash when I hit the switch but nothing happens, just the sound. Any ideas?? The fuse on left side of the dash is fine BTW.

Forbish07,

I wish I could help you.

I have a 2001 QC SLT, etc.

I'll be checking this post, cause I want to know how to fix it if/when it happens to my truck.

Now, hopefully this board will work like usual, and someone that KNOWS how to fix it will post it.

You are right, it is very unlikely it is the actuators. Does your Dakota have the factory alarm-keyless entry system or is it aftermarket? And this is a stupid question but is it the factory-installed electric door lock system? If so, this sounds to me like the lock side of the master switch has gone out.

Could it be the batteries in the remote are bad?
Just a suggestion.

My guess is, if you can *hear* a "pop" when you
press the remote you're hearing the relay that
controls the door locks. Sounds like the relay
contacts are bad OR the input or output wiring
bad.

It's gonna take some trouble shooting to locate
the problem I'm sure..

Good luck, Forbish07
