last year i blew 2 resistors for the blower motor in my 02 qc 4.7 so the blower motor would only work on high, now it works on speeds 1,2 and 3 but not on high?!?!? im stumped

maybe you put the resistor in backwards, eh?

It could be that the blower motor itself is
drawing too much current but not enough to
blow a fuse yet.

The replacements "are" of better quality. You could have got an old one. When I changed mine the replacement deffinately looked different.

faulty control switch, check the 'MAX' position contacts with a test light or meter.

with a test light or meter. Can't see the contacts on the front of the switch, can you ? they're behind it.

When my resistor blew on my 03 QC 4.7 no fan speeds worked at all. Maybe different parts of the resister can blow, giving a different symptom? Getting to the control switch is a pain, the resistor is cheap and easy to replace...if it were me, I'd just try a new resistor first. It'll probably come in handy some day even if it's not your problem now.

Just go and buy a new resistor card they are only about $15 at the dealership. And it is a waste of time back probing the contacts of the switch since it is a variable ground switch . The power goes from the fuse to the ignition switch then to the blower motor and the negative of the blower motor passes from the blower to the blower resistor block then four wires from the resistor block to the switch then to ground. Depending on which resistor the negative passes sets the blower speed. If you need a copy of the diagram just let me know ... ill send you a copy of the page

I don't believe high speed goes through the resistor in the first place. I aggree with dude. It's probably the blower switch.

There's a resistor for each of the speeds on the dash switch
except for -HIGH- to lower the voltage to the fan motor,

In the -HIGH- position, the blower gets the full
12 volts, by-passing all the resistors.

So it's actually less wear-n-tear running the heater on -HIGH-
whenever possible. The lower the fan speed you select,
the higher the resistance value has to be to dissipate
extra heat/current in order to lower the fan speed.
Over time, this will melt/damage the resistors assembly.

You obviously don't know what the hell you're talking about. Less wear and tear on what? The motor will see more wear the faster it goes. And the resistors are rated to a sufficient wattage that they will NOT overheat and melt over time. The usualy failure method is that they corrode, which reduces their rating, then they blow open. Selecting a different fan speed will not change the corrosion.

Selecting -high- will by-pass all the resistors
so, avoiding corrosion as YOU describe.

Even spinning a full speed, a blower motor will outlass the resistors,
Survey all mechanics you know, how many resistors have they replaced over the years compared to fan motors. But hey Bob..like YOU say, what do I know........

Dude .... ALL of the speeds run into the resistor card ... not one wire bypasses it .... and the resistors are NOT IN THE DASH SWITCH... if you don't believe me I can send a copy of the page out of my DODGE FACTORY MANUAL. the older design of the resistor card had a type of resistor trace on the card .. new new design has normal resistors
