hey all,
Question for you all. My nv-3500 was recently rebuilt. When I picked up my Dak they(the shop) told me to put in a high quality engine oil. So my question is, should I put in redline, amsoil, Mopar, or the Castrol they filled it with? If any high quaility oil will work, which will work best. Should I go with synthetic or dino? Now you might be wondering why I didn't ask the tranny shop these questions. They suck, they have next to no customer service and it took them 3 weeks to tell me they would have to order a rebuilt trany. Any way thanks for the info.

p.s. if you are in the Columbus GA area DON'T take your truck to usa transmissio or Yates transmission.

I just did a fluid change on my 98 with the NV 3500 tranny and put in the mopar fluid. That is what it has in the owners manual. I tried to find out any alternatives, but 3 different dealers wouldn't tell me and none of the auto parts places had a clue so I was stuck with the $10.95 a quart Mopar manual tranny fluid. It needs 2 quarts. Manual said 4.2 pints so I bought 3 quarts, but it ran out after 2. Good luck,

Shawn

Where do you drain and fill it at?

Drain is on the bottom of the tranny. 16 or 17mm hex if you have the 3500. There is also one on the passengers side that looks just like it to fill it back up. Make sure you check out the bottom plug. It has a magnet on it and there should only be some really fine metal shavings on it. Looks like dust. Just wipe this off. If you have some big chunks then you may have a problem. It is pretty tough to fill if you try and push it out of the bottle. If you have a pump use it.
