You do a used oil analysis on that used conventional oil at a cost of $20 and it shows that the oil was protecting your engine just fine when you drained it. So your oil change cost you a total of $13 and with the analysis $33.

If you had used Amsoil, you would have paid $25.40 for the 4 quarts of oil, plus another $20-$24 for two Amsoil filters, so without even doing the analysis, you have already paid $47 for an oil change instead of $13. GM wouldn't tell you to go 12,500 miles before getting an oil change if it was going to damage your engine because it would give them an even worse reputation for quality compared to the Japanese automakers. They'll quote you all kinds of 4-ball wear tests and tons and tons of totally irrelevant facts and statistics. I LEARNED THE TRUTH ABOUT API


All vehicle manufacturers in the U.S. have agreed that a warranty cannot be denied because a customer was using any particular brand of oil that meets specifications, unless an engine failure was directly attributable to the fluid. If it is not a fluid related failure, they cannot void the warranty. The law supports this position.

Plus, the dealer/manufacturer has no way of telling what fluid you are using. How do I know? I am a former aircraft technician. I too was sceptical in the beginning. But now I am a believer.

Amsoil meets and exceeds API specs.

USE AMSOIL WITH CONFIDENCE!!!!!

The burden of proving that a particular brand of oil meets those specification is the customers. The mere claim by a manufacturer that thier oil "meets or exceeds" those requirements is NOT sufficient.

The cheapest oil on the market most likely "meets or exceeds" minimum requirements just like amsoil.

That doesn't say much for amsoil.
