[This has already been posted under the "raised dakotas" board, but I thought someone might actually read it over here. Sorry for the double post.]

Last weekend I cranked my torison bars with the intent on raising my Dak ~1". 4 turns right? After two turns on the drivers side, it raised 1/8". So i tried the passenger side. 2 turns raised that side 1/2", as expected. I went back to the drivers side and cranked until I raised it to match, which took a total of 6 turns (the 2 original plus 4 more). I am going to climb back under it and take a look at the torsion key clearances tonight.

What could be wrong? I jounced the suspension by driving it between turns and gave it a week of regular driving to let it settle. Do I have a lazy t-bar?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can't fault your procedure. And yes, it's possible you have a weak torsion bar.
You don't say what year Dakota you have, but the last Dakota with torsion bar suspension was the 2004 model.

I think by desiding to to do a trued and true lift you discovered a set of defective torsion bars. Think I would get a set out of the junk your rather then pay the price of new ones. wanting to raise the front, I think I would try finding an after market set that is stronger then stock.

in all the dakotas i have done this to i have found the drivers side is always "weaker"
there could be many reasons for this, for example, on my 1990 the drivers side is maxed up and im not even to the bump stops, on the passengers side i still have plenty of adjustment left
i think it is because there is almost always jsut one person in the truck, me, on the drivers side so it wears faster

1990 sport RC SB, 1995 318drivetrain, 3.92 gears (came with truck) Powertrax "traction system", 95 dash/steering wheel, hearthrob exhaust, headers, cutout after y-pipe, necessary electric fan add-a-leafs, 30x9.5 mud tires, cranked T-bars, AR 39 15x8 rims, grill guard, roll bars
