I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota QC All Wheel Drive. I have been having a clunking noise on the driverside front. It is only at low speeds and usually while turning. I replaced both upper and lower ball joints and also the sway bar bushings. I still have this clunking noise. Any Suggestions?

Sounds like a CV joint, Help
Check the boot that covers it..
It may be torn and let dirt in.
Good luck.

Just checked the cv shaft and it seems tight. No grease leaking. Boots are fine.

Wheel bearings were inspected at the time of the ball joint install. I am changing both outer tie rods tomorrow.

Might be a caliper that pulled the threads clunking around. Grab the caliper and see if its loose. Might need a pry bar Thats another common problem caliper threads being pulled out and causing a clunking noise

Epyon, I read your post and went right out and jacked up the truck. I tugged and pulled on the caliper, and it is as tight as can be. I just installed new shocks last night, and Am changing tie rods this morning. I hope this will cure it.

I found out what the clunking noise was, after replacing parts that may or may not have needed it. I had a loose cab mount bolt, that was bolted through my nerf steps. That bolt had come loose and when the truck flexed the nerf bar bracket rubbed on the bolt and clunked between the frame and the bolt. Oh well, at least now I have all greasable tie rods and ball joints.
