I pull my ATVs on a trailer with my 01 4.7 4x4 Dak. Total weight of the trailer and ATVs is around 2000 lbs going to a class 3 frame mounted hitch. It works great, but I'd like to have the rear stay put at it's original height. It only drops an inch or two while hooked up. Does anyone make air adjustable shocks for the Daks? I've made numerous phone calls and have come up empty.

Probably Monroe. Can't believe I can't find a fit for my Dakota. Don't want to go the helper spring route and I will probably leave it as is unless I can come up with a better plan. Anyone have any suggestions?

Recall that the 4X4 Dakota has BUILT-IN helper springs that only begin to "take weight" when a load is applied.

Isn't it better to allow the springs to perform their intended function insdead of putting all of that extra weight on the lowly shock-absorber bolts and mounting flanges?

Looked for air shox for my '99 Dak 2wd X-cab about 2 yrs ago and the best I could do was a pair of Gabriels from the ShockShop via the web. These required a jerry-rig to install but worked OK until recently when one sprang a fluid/gas leak. They're not warranted and the ShockShop wants $29 each to replace them.
Monroe tells me that they don't make such a thing. Advance, AutoZone, and NAPA tell me they can't get them. Anybody got suggestions?

I had a pair of Firestone Sport Rite airbags installed on my 00' QC to level it out when towing my trailer. They work great when towing or hauling heavy loads, and do not negatively affect the ride when unloaded (operate near minimum air pressure). Check them out at http://www.ride-rite.com/Ride-Rite.htm
