I am thinking of purchasing a 2005 dakota quad cab 4x4 with 63,000 miles on it. I was wondering what kind of life these trucks have and is this not a good idea? There is no visable damage and all maintenence has been taken care of. Please let me know of any ideas or suggestions...Thanks!!

If a Teenager owned it, walk away.
It would be worth the money to have your mechanic go through it, do things like a compression test and check the alignment (because going airborne can bend things).
If you have the time, analyze the engine, transmission and differential oil.
If it was properly cared for 63,000 miles should be just about broken in.
If you are a Costco member, check out their auto Program financing.
Happy motoring.

For a truck that is barely 2 years old, the millage is high. If it was being traded in, the owner would be docked a fair amount because of this. In reality, cars or trucks with more miles on them then average are shunned. Keep in mined, average miles a truck or car is driven yearly is 12,000 . There for this truck if average should have 24,000 on it. Myself, I wouldn't think of buying it unless the price was several thousands below what a normal millage truck would be selling for.

nada lists for a QC 4x4 w/ 4.7 v8 @ $15,100 for a clean trade in and $18025 for retail. you may also want to check www.edmunds.com or www.kbb.com. that is high mileage and i agree with OBOI3. i'd shy away from it.
