$1 to $2 to $3. I just deal with it. My concession to mpg is a manual tranny on my 4.7 RC= 20mpg combined city/hwy. It's a keeper; Dodge quit making gas-saving Regular Cabs in 2004.

For real, I just tried out a Jeep Patriot. Lot smaller than a Dak but I really only need the room for two plus a small dog, and there is more than enough room for that. Am fixing up an old utility trailer for the rough stuff.

Patriot has 2.4 liter VVT dual cam 4cyl and a CVT tranny that delivers incredible fuel mileage.

during the 70's gas crunch everyone sold their cars and trucks to get something more economical. After things went back to normal you were still making payments on new vehicles while someone else drove your cherished truck. It will go back down.

I agree with you little jer, no need to spend thousands more just to
"save" gas...

However there is one thing wrong, gas prices will not go down... My
family works in the oil/gas business... they kind of know what's
going to happen in the future lol.

It's here to stay guys, enjoy it at its 3 dollar mark for the time
being.

My 02 4X4, 4.7 I bought new gets cleaned up,
waxed, covered and stored every spring. I get
my gas saving AMC out and drive it all spring
and summer.

Both are paid for and that's just the way I
wanna keep it.

As far as the oil slugs go, I lost ALL
respect for them a LONG time ago. I hope
they all rot in hell!

Have a nice day.. ;)

The sad fact is that we don't actually get that much oil from the middle east, and yet the instability in that region is what causes gas prices to rise. Read the link below, some really interesting facts.

http://www.gravmag.com/oil.html

2005 US oil imports came from:
Canada 18%
Mexico 15%
Columbia 3%
Ecuador 3%
Venezuela 10%
Norway 1%
UK 2%
Algeria 3%
Nigeria 12%
Angola 6%
Equatorial Guinea 1%
Kuwait 2%
Iraq 5%
Saudi Arabia 12%

A stinking 19% from the middle east!!!!! Most of the import from Canada I belive is our oil that we exported to be refined, then reimported.

How many of those countries belong to OPEC? Seems to me if we can get our ethanol production up enough to offset their oil (25%?) then we can tell them to stick it until they lower prices and increase production.

Sorry Jetsfan, but you're totally wrong on imports from Canada being re-imported US oil refined in Canada and sent back. It's the other way around, Canada has a lot of their oil sent to the US for processing. We've got more oil than Iraq. Take a look on Google Earth of the Alberta tar sands sometime.

The ethanol we are making from corn is not a good solution - don't let the politicians fool you. It is very wasteful. It is much more productive to make ethanol from sugar cane, but world politics come into play.

Ethanol lowers your mileage, is hard to ignite in deep cold, and the price is going through the roof. The price of corn has doubled and will rise as more plants come on line. The cost of your food is rising as corn products are used in about everything (corn starch and corn surupe). Plus its driving up the price of beef. So- Now the price of E85 is going up and your food bill is going up. Thx greenys! You can build refinerys and eat well, or burn your food in your fuel tank and eat tofu.
