I'm buying a 2001 QC and interested in a sleek looking topper. I'm considering a LEER model. Any opinions on A.R.E. or other brands? What's considered a "good" price?

Aparently has lots of nice covers, and from what I hear they are resonable. Personally I find no need for one. Limits tailgate parties.

I had a Leer lid on my Ram. I went through 3 of them in the lifetime warranty period. They warped, delaminated, and they couldn't match the paint.I bought the ARE for the quad cab and it is great. It fits good, is smooth and straight, lifts and closes easily, and the color matches!!

Leer has a new topper out for the QC. I'm looking for a topper too so I've been doing a little research on the topic. This LEER topper is a 100 XQ. It's only about 10% and 90% Dodge. I guess Leer went to Dodge asking them for ideas on the topper. Dodge said they wanted to handle the engineering. So...Dodge did all the designing and Leer handled the production. It's a really sharp unit. It comes with a tail gate cap and the door has a 'lip' on it that fits right up with the tail gate cap. All the windows are 'recessed'. The back lid had hinges on it that are massive! It has nice latches. The same type of latches that are on doors. Not some rod that has to slide into some hole or anything. Two latches, one button that pops the lid open and it opens itself practily once you push the button. I just got my taxes back so I'm off to wheel and deal. The topper has a real custom fit. The 'rails' match the truck bed and it's like they took a mold of the bed rails to make the topper fix like a glove. The topper place stuck on my truck so I could see how it looked. I was impressed. The two smaller windows in the back pop out, no screens to tear or come out either. If I work a deal today, I'll get a photo posted.

Lefteez,

That's the exact combo I was thinking of, Sport Plus QC and Leer 100XQ. It should look like a longer Durango. Based upon your research, that topper should be almost perfect for fit and finish. I was quoted a price of $1,360, not including installation, hope you can do better!

I'm ordering the Lo-Pro Tonneau from A.R.E. for my '01 QC. I wish I had it already so I could tell you how I like it. It has locks at both back corners so it doesn't have the locking rods under it. The MSRP is $639

Well, I opted for an A.R.E. "Z" model. The Leer was just too flimsy by comparison. The dealer told me Leer's come back much more frequently for warranty repairs than the ARE's! Even with the nominal price difference, the better choice was quite obvious!
