And my truck never had this much power before, and the sound is just great. Not very loud; but with a nice rumble.

Trust me it was a dog before I put the exhaust on. Also I had to replace the orignal cat with a new one from Magnaflow.

It probably has "normal" power now that the exhaust is new and open. Maybe the cat was clogged. That'll kill power so much that when the exhaust is free flowing again it seems like a huge power boost.

New performance mod: run a clogged cat until you can't stand it any more, than put on a new one. Instant power boost! :-P

What's your left foot doing?

I don't know about that Modain, I mean he would indeed get more power with a High preformance exaust. Also I think you can get 25% more power with the Magnaflow setup. Again. if your engine is putting out just 220 or below like the dakota of STS was, your still looking at power going above stock level.

As for me, I got the Dynomax and I don't think theres a differnce between the two. At least I know there been an increase in power on my 287 powerd dakotas.

25% more power with a Magnaflow? Give me a break!Thats a 55 Hp increase on a 220 horse motor in the example you gave. I dont think so. I buy the plugged cat theory plus a FEW extra HP from the free flowing exhaust.

Joe,

Before and after dyno, please.

Those of us who have dynoed various mod changes on the 4.7, are laughing their A$$e$ off at your remark. Sorry

Wow Todd that's right. If we could get 25% on our 4.7 from an exhaust mod that would be great! I think that goes for the 5.2/5.9 as well!!

If you can find 25% from an exhaust system mod on ANY of the V8's then we have all missed something for YEARS! LOL! :P

Even my sensitive BUTT DYNO could not really make out the difference when I redid my exhaust each time. Maybe each helped at the very high RPM range. :)

A 25% increase would take quite a few REAL mods.

Yup, that claim of 25% gain is outrageous - no way they'll back that up with a dyno. I've been here since about when the 4.7 (287) first came out and one of the first things guys who dynoed their mods for this motor noticed was no significant difference with just a catback exhaust. I went with a Borla when the stock system rusted - nice tone, but didn't feel the kind of power gain I felt with the cam swap or PCM flash.

There's usually always an "up to" in front of their numbers...

btw...just for comparison...what kind of gains would one see from a supercharger kit (approximately)?

Yeah, that "up to" is used very commonly, and can be deceptive. That's what people mean when they tell you to "read the fine print" !

So, STS, I'm saying you were mistaken if you thought that they were claiming a 25% gain for every aplication - not that they lied...

Lets see now, I got new plug wires, new cap and rotor, new thermostat, that also got my 02 sensor back up and working and I almost forgot; A MAGNAFLOW PERFORMANCE EXAUST SYSTEM!!!

Also there a chart on the back of the box about the power increases of a 4.6L Ford Mustang with the same exhaust setup. 12.7 more HP and 31 ft-lb more torque

STS - if you want to call someone a moron, go look in the mirror. You are the one whose reading comprehension is challenged. Why the refence to a Ford 4.6 ? Different motors see different results - not everything is engineered the same.

I'm the one who stated that you can get up to 25% with a Magnaflow!

Joe C. - looks more like it's you that is challenged - I never atributed that remark to STS. I did point out the 4.7 can't be expected to perform like Ford's 4.6 as STS seems to believe; and that we definitely will not see a 25% gain on a 4.7. I hope you're starting to understand now - looks like you can direct your name calling at the mirror too !
