If you can find a 31 x 10.5 - 16, that will be the same size. (I have yet to find that)

The 265/70 R16 will give you a 30.6" tire which is close enough to the 31x10.5

Also keep in mind that not all 31" tires are a true 31" diameter.

That's a "nominal" size - they are pretty much all shorter than a true 31". You can use a tire size comparison chart from someplace like tire rack to compare actual heights of different sizes.

Or you can get a superchips programmer and recalibrate your speedometer according to your tire size. Just another option for you.

I have done some research on stock tire sizes and speedometer gears. I am pretty sure 98 had a wheel speed sensor. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

On the '97 and older, dodge used a gear driven off the tailshaft to give the spedo its reading. Based on the stock gear listings and ranges of tire sizes, there is a 5.3% range in the speedometer signal. So unless there is correction factors that dodge programmed into the computer based on the stock setup, there is a good chance that your speedometer isn’t accurate from the factory.
