Have fun with the sawzall! Thats about the best thing i can tell you because you are going to have to basically cut the fenders clean off to get 35s on a gen1 dakota.
Something else I noticed that I didn't catch before, you said 2in suspension lift, that means it is a 2wd truck because the only suspension lift available for the gen 1 or 2 dak 4x4s is a 4in from trailmaster. When i said that you wouldnt be able to fit 35s with only 5 inches of total lift i was actually referring to a 4x4 dakota with 5in of lift! Your truck with 5in of lift is going to be equal to a 4x4 with 3in of lift there is no way you can cut enough fender away to get 35s on it and still be able to steer! Also 33s are going to be way too big for your truck, you might be able to get 32s to squeeze in the fenders.

Actually no I was wrong. I checked and the lift is for 91-96 dakotas only, but I have read that some people have installed the trailmaster lift on their gen1 dakotas with some custom fabrication to a few parts.

The Trailmaster DD43 kit for the 91-96 Dakota 4x4 will fit the 87-90 Dakota also but you'll need to also swap the lower control arms, knuckles and steering parts with those from a 91. However, by the time you total up the cost, it'll cost you as much if not more than if you did a straight axle swap. I did it on my 88 years ago and if I had to do it again, I wouldn't bother with the Trailmaster kit. I spent way too much money just to gain 4".
