has dodge said anything about bumping up the horsepower and torque in the hemi to run with the new 5.7 motor in the toyota tundra rated at 381hp 401ft-lbs of torque (honestly i think they need to to compete with toyota its embarrassing that a foreign companys truck has better performance

No, but its Toyota in this case I'd like to hear more from. Good grief, yet another person trying to do power comparisons based on peak #s instead of power curve graphs ? Unlike DC, Toyota does not seem to be forthcoming with the information we need to make a valid comparison here. What we usually find is that those who try to compete with our v8s based on peak #s is that they often make less torque at other rpms where DC's motors can be making decent power. Perhaps that is the reason Toyota hasn't released that information ?

Please guys, learn to look beyond the advertised peak #s to understand how useful the power of an engine will be in a truck !

Listen to Kowalski, don't always believe their #'s, It's kinda like the MPG comparison, they are misleading cause tests are done on a treadmill in perfect conditions, not done in everyday driving with hills and stoplights and stupid drivers.

Kowalski,
Check out the link above and go to engine page. Looks like over torque on 5.7 over 300 from 1200rpm to near 6000.

they show a small dyno graph of the 5.7 liter toyota engine.

just go to "straight info" its peak torque is lower than the Hemi's by 800rpm. its not as flat as the hemis through. and that is also off a toyota web page so they may show it better than it really is.

even through dodge my have the lowest tow rating now in the 1500 truck market im still willing to bet they tow better than most of the trucks rated for more.

Hmm..? i guess my memebership as "toolfan" expired...

but honestly when the average person goes to buy a truck they just look at peak numbers versus the horse and torque curve they see that the toyota 5.7 puts out 381horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque then they see dodges 5.7 345hp and 375 lb-ft of torque curve doesnt sell just the peak numbers

I've never wanted to be average...
