 Subject: Removal of '03 dash

Can anyone please explain how to remove the central part of the 2003 Dakota's dash. Its the Part with the DIN slot and A/C controls. I would try, but I'm afraid of cracking the plastic or something nice like that.

Once you:
remove the knee blocker
detach steering column tilt lever knob thingy
remove steering column upper and lower shroud
remove the two screws that secure the cluster bezel
It just pops right off.
There's things plugged in from behind that you have to unplug when you get the bezel loose. Then it'll come right out and you can have your way with it.

Alright-- so its just like my old '93. Just have to start around the steering wheel, except this apparently has more hidden screws.

it's only got 2 screws right above the gauges. the rest pops out. make sure when you take it out that all the clips come out with it or it is a paint to get back in. also much easier if you put the key in the ignition and put your truck in 1st gear (if it's automatic) this gets the shift lever out of the way.

It's not intuitive. It doesn't come off like a knob off a shaft.
Here's how. Sit in the driver seat, reach for the adjusting lever. when you get a good grip, pull it strait toward you. Or point the lever down, then pull strait down on it.
It takes a bit of effort. Mine takes a two-hand grip.

look out for i think its 3 or 4 torx screws around your knee area and about two screws where the gauges are and the rest should pull out

Thanks, I got it now. In fact, I did it without removing the steering column shroud, with a little effort.
