Hi Everyone. Well Guess Freaking What??

Well I Bought These Seat Covers from AutoAnything.com for $279.95.
It took about a month to get to me and when I got them and opened the box a couple weeks ago Wet Okole Accidentally put their Drop Ship Invoice Inside my package which I wasnt suppose to get and on their Invoice to AutoAnything the total Charge was $173.00 and $3.50 for Shipping.

So AutoAnything made Over $100 on me when my wife bought me these for X-Mas. I Called Wet Okole and told them what had happened and pretty much all they said was, "Yup thats what they cost for Front Seat Covers with Center Fold Down Arm Rest." I Called AutoAnything to see if I could possibly get any type of Money Back on these Seat Covers because I feel making Over $100 on me which is over 1/3rd the Price of the Seat Covers Themselves was just to Much Money to be Making and they told me and I Quote "Sir I'm sorry you feel you paid to much for your seat covers, We have to make a living too, Would You like to return these?" There was much more that was said but that was a direct quote from the customer service manager, I Forgot her name but she had a really high pitched annoying kick her in the mouth voice.

So,... If you feel like getting ripped off Go Ahead and Buy Them. If you Don't, Then Buyer Beware, If you feel this is a Fair Price then thats up to you also, I just think it's to much money to make off 1 Item.

Anyway,... Here's some pictures of the seat covers installed into my Dakota.
Let me know what you think of them.

Jim.

That's probably typical markup percentage when you buy anything from a distributor or reseller.
The price will always be as high as the public will bear. MSRP is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price, not what it costs to manufacture. And it is always more than it costs the reseller to have the item available in his store.

Yeah...I agree...you'd be surprised at the markup some stuff has. My buddy and I used to run a computer shop...I no longer do, but he does. He's been getting hooked up with brand new in the box Emachine computers for under $200...the guy selling them to him is selling them at a price where he's still making SOME money I'm sure (or at the very least, at cost). That same exact computer costs around $400 at your local Walmart. For those who can't do the math, that's nearly a $200 markup. Sh!tty? Yes. But if people are willing to pay it, they're going to charge it.

if you aren't one then you don't have a clue about how much money they are making. do you know how much overhead AutoAnything has attached to those seat covers? i doubt it. they may actually only be profiting 30% even though you think they are making 100%.

This is really quite typical usually retail price is about double the wholesale price. If anything, you actually made out pretty decently

If they are making 30%, that would be an unreal amount of profit. If you get serious about it, 10% would be a lot. They buy the inventory, power and heat bills, garbage bill, someone to clean the business nightly plus someone doing restocking. The clerks plus insurnce for all these people and you pay part of there SS. Most stores run sales on lead items trying to get you in the store in hopes you buy other things. You file your taxes every 3 months and these book keepers cost money. Lots of stores run on bank money. called a floor plan and they pay interest on this. Unless we're talking a mom and pop operation they have to pay a percentage for there franchise. It's a pretty big bite.
Then you have to worry about the honesty of the workers. Our NAPA dealer was getting riped off for better then a year before he caught the worker stealing. The guy got him for thousands.
A friend had 2 mens clothing stores . One here and one in a town 85 miles away. He was being riped off by his manager who was a friend of his for years. In 2 years he siphoned 85,000 bucks and by the time my friend found out, his business was distroyed and he had to go bankrupted.
Being in business is not an easy way of life.
I owned 2 flower shops, a mechanic shop, And was a real estate broker/owner.
I'm sure I missed a lot of things the owner pays out but you get the idea.

So many problems .... So little time

100% markups were pretty much standard

sometimes more than that

so I believe it

markups like that are fairly low
i had a friend who worked at best buy
he got a USB extension for $4
store shelf price, $20

1990 sport RC SB, 1995 318drivetrain, 3.92 gears (came with truck) Powertrax "traction system", 95 dash/steering wheel, hearthrob exhaust, headers, cutout after y-pipe, necessary electric fan add-a-leafs, 30x9.5 mud tires, cranked T-bars, AR 39 15x8 rims, grill guard, roll bars

well thats one of the reasons that the economy is so screwed up in the first place. I doubt their overhead warrants a 100 dollar mark up on one product. Its called taking advantage. Prices continually go up but i dont see pay going anywhere. Blame it on large corps and the MAN!!!

Or you could blame the consumer, for being stupid enough to pay that high mark-up.
