First off, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! that's right CHRIST-mas. Just thought I would throw that out there for you ACLU people. Now to business: I have had my Dak for 2 years and so far have the air intake and Magnaflow catback exhaust. I'm considering some JBA or Gibson Headers and a Fastman 68mm true bore throttle body. Any other suggestions for performance without turning my pickup into a street rod? Thanks for all your advice and MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!

Merry Christmas to you, too.

Regardless of engine, there are a couple of things that always make an improvement. First, lower differential gears. If you have 3.55, consider 3.93 or 4.11.

Second, is the computer program stock? If so, a simple re-program can provide excellent gains in less than 10 minutes.

For more specific recommendations, it would help to know engine, trans, 2 or 4wd, intended goals, and limitations.

Thanks for the input:

2004 dakota with the 4.7L V8 auto trans. 4x4
to be honest the only limitations i have is my budget....the common limiter heh. The comp. program is stock and i have heard mixed reviews on them...then again I hear that with everything. My main goal is more pulling power...but the extra horses sure are nice as well.

The biggest improvement you can make is to use only AMSOIL in your engine, tranny and rear end.

I used AMSOIL in my engine...it faired pretty well in the cold weather. Tranny fluid would be nice...but a. the flush and exchange would be about 200 bucks from my dealership and b. from what i hear the ATF 4 that mopar makes is pretty damn good..so far no problems. I would do it myself, but my truck is still under warranty so I don't want to take any chances.

Your not going to be able to do to much and keep it under warranty. The Throttle body and the headers are not going to help much with towing they only really add to the higher powerbands. The computer is your best bet but make sure it is back to stock programing before you take it back to the dealer. I would put gears second because they cost so much for a 4x4 but graphite dak seems to like his pretty well. I dont know what the dealer would have to say about those either.

a set up in gears would help for towing
i wouldnt go too high unless you plan on doing nothing but towing
4.10s would be good, 4.56s would be great but jsut seems a bit much to me, but then again, i bet they are fun as he11
