 Subject: loss of power

I have 98 dakota with a 2.5 liter engine .i have a loss of power on the freeway,and now a loss of power around town.engine idles fine revs up just fine but when driving,problem starts.at first thought low on fuel.gauge saye 1/4 tank so i filled it up problem stopped.now full tank same thing.could this be a fuel pump problem/filter.

I would check fuel pressure first. If that's OK, consider the cat.
