I have 22,000 on my 2000 V-6 cc. I have two major problems that I would love to have fixed. One is the brakes, the truck shakes like mad when braking. Second is the transmission(i think). Sometimes I can't get the truck into gear unless I pump the clutch when the truck is off.
So I went to the dealer (with an appointment for warranty repeair). I explained to the 'guy' at the service shop entrance that my brakes shake like mad when braking. He then explained how brakes aren't covered under warranty after 12,000 miles. He would have to charge me just to look at the rotors and then charge me more if I wanted them fixed. Same with the transmission, he says, I'll charge you to look at it, if the repair isn't covered under warranty you pay for the fix too. Having finally saved enough for a stereo I fled the scene thinking this guy wanted all my money and all I wanted is for my factory defects to be fixed. I looked at the TSBs at alldata.com and I experience some of the symptoms listed. I also have a whining noise at 74-75mph coming from the rear. I admit I know squidaly squat about warranty shit. What should I read to keep myself from being reemed by the dealer techs. Warranty info web site? Thanks for the help people!

Check out the problems that I am having with my V6 5 Speed 2000 QuadCab 4x4. I am taking it into the dealership again today for the engine problem, but I am having a braking problem as well. I had to make an emergency stop and the brakes went away and some loud ugly noise came from the ABS or master cylinder, I'll tell you more when I know......

I know that the brakes aren't covered after 1 year. Your rotors are probably warped. However, a transmission problem I would think should be covered. Look in your owner's manual warranty information. It tells you how long certain parts and repairs are covered for. Also, that dealer doesn't sound very good. When I had problems with my rotors, I took it in. I didn't tell them it was a brake problem, because it didn't sound like a typical brake squeal. They checked it out and charged me nothing. They determined it was the rotors and they would have charged me to fix it, but not for the diagnosis.
