Subject: burning up headlight switches
IP: Logged

Message:
My 1995 Dakota likes to use up headlight switches every year or so. Has anyone discovered the cause of this and determined a fix? I have noticed one of the wire connectors seems to be getting too much voltage and the black wiring connector is a little melted.

thanks for the help

A switch doesn't recognize volts. Only current and amps. only 2 things come to mind to cause this. Some kind of short or running to many lights from this switch. This also includes very strong headlights drawing lots of amps.

So many problems .... So little time

Also a loose connection will cause this.
