In 540,000 miles I have used the original Goodyears (apx 98,000 miles) and slud through an intersection, trying not to.
Bridgstones (apx 118,000 miles) better, but traction wasn't as good as I wanted.
Michelin (160,000 miles) The traction is much better.
All factory recommended sizes.
I will not own another vehicle without ABS.

Burned up, eh? Apparently they provided no traction for you in dry weather either.

Where do you live, and what kind of driving do you do? Without that information, and recommendation made would be worthless. It's like saying, "I have a job to do, what tool should I use?"

I've been driving on Michelin LTX M/S for the last 40K miles. One of the best all around tires I'v ever used. Handles hot weather and heavy snow without complaint. Still have plenty of tread left.

However, I think if I was trying to autocross or drag race, rock crawl, or drive on sand, this would not be my first choice.

.boB makes a good point.
I think it is BF Goodrich, that has been advertising their tires dominate all the world's Rally and off road races.

i guess i shouldve elaborated when i said "burned up" ... i dont rally race my truck or anything like that... just normally driving with normal wear n tear(city & highway)... its an every day truck... the tread on the tires just faded so quickly... any weather other than dry made traction very difficult... i live on the tennessee/kentucky border... so its mostly just wet weather... and ice in the winter... everyones help is greatly appreciated... Thanks...

I'm with .boB, I have the Michelin LTX M/S tires. Mine have about 25k on them so far and look like new. I am very happy with their performance and lack of wear. I think it would be hard to beat these for a general all around tire that is great in the summer heat and more than decent in the winter snow.

You could have an alignment problem. the rear end should be fine unless you're skirtin off every stop or powerslidin around corners. but the slightest deviation in alignment in your front end can cause excessive tire wear.

I agree with the Michelin LTX/MS. I have a set on my 02 QC 4x4 (I think original factory ones). I have logged about 15k miles on them since I bought the truck in Jan. It's almost time for me to buy a new set of tires as well and I'm going to get another set of the LTX's.

If you do mostly of off-roading in rough terrain I'd go with the Goodyear AT's. I had a set on my old truck and loved them but they are not a great road tire.

The LTX is a great mixture of both, good wet and dry pavement traction and good snow traction too.
