Just curious if any of you that have bought a new dodge vehicle ever gotten any discount for being a repeat dodge buyer?

I've been trying to negotiate buying my wife a 2006 dodge magnum but am going nowhere fast. Dodge is currently offering 2,000 consumer allowance on 2006 models + 1,000 on vehicles that have been on the lot since before April 1st 2006 (This means car has been on the lot over 6 months (1 day away from 7 months). This particular magnum I am looking at was manufactured in Feb 2006 according to the sticker on the vehicle.

This particular dealer is offering $500 off list if you mention you saw it on their website. I also get $500 off for being a Farm Bureau insurance customer (FB negotiated deal with Dodge).

This means I'm looking at at least $4,000 off of which $3,000 is from Dodge, $500 from dealer and $500 "bonus" if you will.

This particular dealer is refusing to give me more than $3500 dodge/dealer allowances (not counting $500 FB). They are refusing to give me anything for being a repeat Dodge buyer. I don't get this since this will be my 3rd dodge vehicle. They are only losing $500 from their profit margin beacuse Dodge is picking up the tab for the $3000 in incentives for it being an old unsold 2006. Even if you don't look at me being a repeat dodge buyer then look at it as offering less than list plus getting the manufacturer incentives.

I spoke to the sales guy 3 times and the "internet" sales manager once. I just don't get how they claim to be losing money when they are only down $500 in their profit to begin with.

The "internet" sales manager basically told me i was unreasonable in asking for some sort of additional discount for being a repeat dodge customer and that this was retail and he could chose to sell me the car or not then proceeded to tell me he had a family to go home too (it was 8:30 pm and I was speaking to him on the phone with the dealer closing at 9pm).

Have any of you ever been treated this poorly by a 5 star dealer? I'm going to call Dodge customer support and give them an earfull tomorrow about a 5 star dealer treating me the same as a non dodge owner. It really bugs me that me being a repeat buyer means jack squat to them. This tells me this dealer doesn't care if I buy another manufacturer vehicle.

The car we are trading in is a 2001 pontiac grand am with 54,500 miles. This is a car that has been driven on average little over 9,000 miles a year. The average miles for a 2001 trade in is 71,000 according to kbb. The car is in great shape, only a few scratches. Nothing is wrong with the vehicle except my wife doesn't want a 4 cylinder anymore. Also the sales guy told me he was doing me a favor in taking the car in as a trade since it's not made anymore. According to KBB the fair condition for a tradein for this car is 4100 and the good condition is 4700+.

If i ever need any dealer parts or service for my current dakota i know where I'm NOT going to take it. It's too bad the parts guys were nice, i got a few items for my old dakota there but i refuse to hand them anymore of my money.

WTF?

Just as a comparison I bought my 2002 Dakota in January of this year (from differnet dealer), it listed for 16,995 but I got it for 13495 not counting my trade in or down payment - the truck had been on the lot only a few days when I looked at it. The only reason I'm not going to this dealer is they don't have any 2006 magnums on the lot.

You don't get squat for being a good customer, believe me. I was a Chevy man for years. Then one day I noticed a truck I bought didn't have the spare tire I had paid for. It was clean under there like it was never there. I talked to dealer and zone office and they wouldn't give me one. I told them I would never buy another Chevy and I haven't. Their loss. They have lost thousands for the price of a lousy $100 tire. US manufacturers complin about their losses and how they can't compete with Japan. Wonder why?

One other thing. The sales guy kept trying to sell us other (cheaper) vehicles. When we specically looked at the charger and magnum for the back seat room. We told him we wanted a vehicle that could comfortably seat adults in the back seat. Like a Jeep Liberty compares to a magnum or charger. My wife liked the magnum better, it will be her car, we we went for the magnum.

After this experience I can't say I blame my wife if she wants another GM product. Chevy is offering 5/100,000 warranty (complete with roadside assistance) while dodge still offers only 3/36,000. I should have pushed for another 2,000 in discounts to compete with the current GM warranty offering saying it'll cost me 2,000 to buy an extended warranty at the 36,000 mile mark.

Their current promotion ends today (10/31). I hope Dodge's next promotion is loyalty cash LOL.

Dont be afraid to stand your ground. Do your home work. Check out web sites that let you build a car and see the prices, espsically the dealer invoice price. Keep in mind that dealerships have all kinds of factory incentives, in some cases, up to $6000.00 that they will not tell you about. Negotiate from the invoice price, FORGET THE LIST PRICE ONLY SUCKERS NEGOTITATE FROM LIST PRICE. If they wont deal, move on walk out. MONEY TALKS, BULL $HIT WALKS.... Have good credit, ask for 0% financing. Dont be afraid...Stand your ground.
