 Subject: rear brakes

i have a 1990 dodge dakota with a 8.25 rear axle
do i have 8" or 10 " brakes, and how do i tell?
1990 sport RC SB, 1995 318drivetrain, 3.92 gears (came with truck) 95 dash/steering wheel, hearthrob exhaust, headers, cutout after y-pipe, necessary electric fan add-a-leafs, 30x9.5 mud tires, cranked T-bars, AR 39 15x8 rims, grill guard, roll bars

You could have either.
Here's how to tell for sure which one you got.
Pull off a wheel.
Check rotor diameter with the measuring device of your chouce.
Now you know.

You will have drum brakes on the rear, not disc - so we are looking to measure the drum, rather than a rotor. Sound advise, other than that - just pull the drum, and use a tape or ruler to measure the inside diameter.

just pull one of the rear wheels off. the max drum diameter should be stamped on the drum.

i was hoping for an easy answer becuase i snapped off a bleeder valve on the one side about a year ago and never got around to fixing it, im having some work done on the rear axle (locker WHOOOOOO) and figured id have him replace the wheel cyl as long as its torn down, ill wait and get it when he gets it apart

your truck came with either 9 by 2 1/2 or 10 by 2 1/2 inch shoes all factory drums are stamped on the front outer lip with the size in MM's
