My truck has a vibration in the drivetrain that starts noticeably at about 55 and gets progressively worse as you speed up. It is much worse when deccelerating than when accelerating. '93 5.2L Dakota. Just had all 4 wheels balanced twice. Any suggestions?

Has to be a universal joint. Check them all, Front end and rear. Most likely it's a rear drive shaft joint. DO NOT DRIVE your truck till your sure what it is. So many in here lost a joint driving and the dammage was costly which can includ a busted transfer case if 4x4 or trany if 2 wheel drive'

So many problems .../ So little time

seems to be something with the driveline. could be an unbalanced driveshaft or u-joints as obio said. When my Dak was new I was driving it when I felt a weird vibration so I pulled over and looked underneath but saw nothing. So asI started driving into a parking lot to check further a hear a load crashing clunking sound. my drivesharft had twisted off. I was only going a couple mph so no damage was done. The vibration was done by the driveshaft that was in the process of twisting off and was therefore unbalanced. By the way, have you ever checked your ball joints?

My vote also goes to the driveshaft - most likely U-joints, but could be a lost balance weight.

The big clue is that it's present (and even worse) on deceleration. Every time I'v had that problem, it's been U-joints.

In my case it was the drive shaft-unbalanced and bent a bit.Symptoms were the same.Do You have pulsation on brake pedal as well?In my case it was.
