I have a 99 single cab, 2wd, shortbed, 3.9L, base (except for automatic transmission and air conditioning).

about 10 days ago I used my parking brake for the first time in about 2 years. I fully disengaged it before driving again. 3 days ago, after no problems whatsoever, I turn my truck on and the abs light and parking brake light come on and stay on.

I'm thinking, okay, probably a short somewhere, I don't know. Everything still runs fine.

Yesterday, I notice my speedometer doesn't work at any speed below 25 mph. It stays at 0 until I get up over 25 mph.

Can anyone tell me whats going on and/or how to fix it?

Thanks in advance

ABS and brake light on, speedo doesn't work. Classic sign of a blown speed sensor. located on top of differential. Replace sensor.

this problem has been discussed here numerous times. rrr is right. you sould be able to find the sensor at your local parts store for around 30 bucks.

Thanks for the help, you were dead right. Bought the sensor ($38) and replaced it over the weekend. Everything works fine now, and I probably saved a lot of money.
