Anyone have any ideas about how I can get rid of the horrible odor that is coming out of my air vents? I have heard that it might be mildew on the evaporator. My evaporator is leaking and needs changed, is that part of the odor that i am smelling?
thanks

I have had occassions where a mouse would get in there and die. This causes a horrific odor that is impossible to get out without disassembling the heater compartment and scrubbing it out with bleach. Not a fun job and no way to do it easily.

I did replace the evaporator core on my 96 Dodge Dakota last week(8-04-06). When I finally get to replaced the damaged evaporator core,I was surprise to find leaves and other stuff around the evaporator core. Moreover,if you evaporator core is leaking like mine was, you are going to have a oil like material in the bottom of the box which houses the evaporator core. High temps, plus whatever is in evaporator box may be causing the bad odor.

If you need pictures as to how to do this job,let me know I will will share them with you.

Good luck eveyone!
