well i just bought my new condenser and now need to recharge my system...i was wondering if i had R12 or the other typ...also i was wondering if it would be best to convert the a/c to the newer type? and how much it may cost to do so..thanx for all help and info

convert, because you can do it yourself. Go to Napa or your local parts store and buy the 134 A retro fit kit.Goodluck. Oh you need a new drier also, about 25 bucks.

It's more involved than that, to do it right.

If it's R12 (and 93 was a transition year), it will have Schrader valves, just like your tires. If it's R134a, it will have quick-connect snap fitting valves.
