Subject: Brakes Grabbing?

Hello there fellas, again. Lmao.

Well, a few days ago I drove my dak for around 2 hours for the
first time in a while, lets say, 6 months or so.

Randomly, when I was only a few minutes away from home, my
truck (99 4x4 dak) started to pull a considerable amount to the
right for no reason.

I was like "Oh dang...I didn't hit anything... how could my
allignment be messed up insantly just like ha?"

2 seconds later I assumed it was my right front caliper sezing up
and rubbing against the disk, pulling it to the right.

I am about to take a 5 hour drive for a trip with family in my Dak
in 3 days... Is this what it sounds liek to you? And if so, what
should I do/look for to diagnose it? Would I have to take it in to
our indipendent service area (that does a good job) to look at it
(as I do not have the time or effeciency to work on anything till
the trip :(.

Any suggestions?

Actually, it sounds like changing road conditions. Next time it happen, don't touch the brakes, but change lanes and see what happens. It will really be noticable on a 2 lane country road. Get to the other side of the road and the crown is going the other way.

My guess is that your rotors were rusty. Makes the brakes grabby.

No was not braking during this pull. And it was a very noticable
drag, and was not road conditions, as I have gone on that road
to my house many times, and that the pullnig was constant for a
the entire time going to my house.

It was something with the truck, but I am not sure what.

It occured whether I was coasting or accelerationg too.

There is a bit of rust on the rotors too actually, but I don't see
how it wold make the calipers grab the rotors even if I were not
braking. I'll take the rust off tomorrow and se what happens,
but until then, anything other ideas since I cleared some things
up?

jack the front up and spin the tires they should do about 2.1/2 turns. if each side feels different than take off the tire and do a brake inspection.

check the rear drums while you're at it.

when was the last time you checked your brakes? if its more than 10k than they need a check.
