Hi everyone. I just came across this site and i hope i can find a solution to this really bad problem i have here. i picked up a 88 dak 2.2 from a friend. he was going to junk it so i took it. it runs but will not idle. i rebuilt the carb and its slightly better but not much. its undrivable the way it is. it runs like garbage and has no power unless you have it screaming. i know next to nothin about this 2 barrel on this thing. the rebuild went good and im pretty confident i did it right. is there any co0mmon problems with these things that i can try? thanks very much and sorry for the long post.

is it possible you have a bad carbon cannister and that it is leaking small black particles of carbon into the carbs. It did on my jeep and it ran like crap as it plugged up the jets. I couldn't figure what it was at 1st and clened this black crud out of the carb but just as soon as it got back on the street and running good it crapped out again. Also, you say it runs good at high rpms. Could also have a sticky float, even after a rebuild, that starves or floods the engine. Had that happen on a Chevy truck on a camping trip. Could hardly keep it running unless at full bore. Got it home but had to floor it the whole way home lol
