I bought the expensive ones on e-bay, about $70 for a set of five pieces. They were heavy steel with foam surrounds to prevent scratching. They came with a hood latch extender that fastened with two pressure screws. I had to drill through my original latch and use nuts because they wouldn't stay tight. I believe they were worth the price. I should have added them before I had 100k miles of rock chips in my radiator and AC condenser. Now I have a new genIV and need to get some more.

I just used a clothes hanger and drilled a hole into the hood latch release and ziptied it to the grille. Only thing I had to worry about is priming the clothes hanger or it would get a little bit rusty.

Yea, I made a ring type thing out of the coathanger and i push down on it right under the grille, I can just fit my finger in the hole and push down hard enough for the hood to relase from the latch.

I slid under an 18-wheeler that was doing an illegal u-turn in October. Just got it out of the shop Friday after a $14,000 repair job. Good as new. Have to take some new photos.

It cost me nothing except other transportation for 8 months. I tried to get a total so I could buy an '06 w/sunroof, but no luck. It was only 3 months old and a loaded $27k model. Insurance cos. are the scum that floats on lawyer swamp. A lawyer was willing to represent me if I went to physical therapy 4 days a week for an imaginary back pain. I didn't have time for that crap!

I've put 200 miles on it since Friday, and it drives just like new. No frame or suspension damage, but new hood, front cap, both right fenders, both right doors, windshield, new dashboard, bed straightened, cab roof with A/B/C pillars popped out, firewall straightened, bed cover patched, 4 new tires (flat spotted), 1 new wheel, and lots of paint! Plus a shiny new antenna. YEE HAW!

as far as the relocator i bought the street scene and didnt like that piece of plastic that they call a relocator so i went out and bought a bicycle brake kit (about 6 bucks) and used the short cord attached it with zip ties and used a keyring as my lever.works great and as far as manual's dak bro it does kinda sound like there was frame damage not that it matters now a days cause these trucks can be dismantled and put back together and itll still run likr new.but the easy way to see if there was damage or repair is just crawl under your truck and look for new welding on the corners of the frame and you can also see hammer scratches and dents especially on the joints ...i hope there isnt any damage for yours sake but yeah your right these ins comps are shady !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
