2004 Quad Cab 2wd, what are the best tires to replace the stock 245's, I has a dakota with 265's and like them much better but those were stock goodyears too, I am looking for something good on dry/wet and sometimes dirt road AT tire that will use the stock rims.

You'd see better traction with Goodrich AT.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Michelin LTX M/S. Best all around tire I've ever used. After 40K miles, there's still plenty of tread left.

265/70R16, stock replacement. Could probably go a little taller without any difficulty. Wider in the back, certainly.

I got Toyo Open COuntry M410s, not the ATs. The ride is a little bumpier but I get excellent dry traction and handling and have no problems whatsoever in snow. I got them in a 265/70/16. I was considering ATs but it seemed like there was too much of a trade-off with those. Either they do everything perfect on and off road but wear out in 30K or else they last a little longer but aren't so great on dry pavement. The M410s seemed to be the best compromise I could find.

Of course after I bought them I looked into the Bridgestone Dueler AT REVOs and everybody seemed to love them. That'll probably be my next tire, it's what I'd have on the truck now if I would have done a bit more research.

Yup, the BF Goodrich ATs are another one of those rare ATs that seem to be able to do everything really well and still last long. Those and the Revos would be the top two on my list next time Im in the market.
