Each person if they are willing, CAN do something to help. Yes, Blood banks are mostly turning people away now, we have tons of blood for NY Victims. AWESOME! But don't stop there! Little things make a difference! Bring some cookies or a cooler to the blood banks! How can a blood bank be 100% prepared for this? Say prayers - they DO help! IF you feel useless, there are lots of things you can do! I agree, we must come together, and I agree we need to find the persons responsible. But we are Americans - we need to help our own - supports our fellow citizens - our families. Organs are having to be DRIVEN from destination to destination - ever think of volunteering? I'm not saying everyone HAS to do anything - but if you want to, great! I donated items to my local blood bank - they have tons of blood already. You can also get on a list to donate later - not only NY needs it!
Let the police, FBI, NSA, etc do their investigation, but we as citizens can help our fellow citizens and family.

Don't forget the American Red Cross needs MONEY as well. The blood drive numbers will trail off next week, but that's no reason not to show up then. You can only give blood every 56 days, but if you are turned away this week, go next week. Go to the Red Cross's website to donate with your credit card, or go to the Red Cross center in your town to pay in cash or check. Donate to your local food bank as much as you can. If there is no dedicated food drive for New York, start one. There are lots of opportunities.
