Ok I'm seriously looking into getting a different truck. Currently I have a '00 CC sport 4x4 3.9 tow pkg, 5spd, 3.55 diff, 32" tires, flowmaster super 40 muffler, V8 TB, CAI, superchips, NAPA brass cap and rotor, taylor 8mm wires and an MSD blaster coil. The power is all right I guess for it's size and weight for a V6, but now I'm looking at a '00 2wd Reg Cab v8 5spd or a '00 QC 4x4 power everything, v8 auto. How's the power on the QC's. I know they're heavier but how much of a difference. Right now what's holding me back is the Auto...I love the manual just because it's funner to drive, but at the same time I like goin in the mountains and a 2wd wont do so well there. I'm not sure what route I want to go. Any suggestions?

I had an '01 QC Sport 4x4 4.7L, 5sp., 3.55 LSD. It was a good truck and would 4 wheel pretty good. Loved it and would have kept it but the mpg was killing me! It weighed in at about 4800 lbs.! I would reccommend these trucks to anyone!
I don't know much about the auto trans in these rigs as I had the manual trans.. It was a fun truck with the set up I had! I did wish for an auto trans. on occassion though.
I think you would like the QC, but if you really want the manual trans., then look around for one. My feelings are that you shouldn't have to settle for something that is not exactly what you want as you will be the one paying for it (probably making payments for a while I would assume). Just my .02 cents.

If you use the extended cab at all, you will be lost with the lack of space in the regular cab. My family has 4 dakotas. '97 5.2 cc 4x4 auto, '98 3.9 cc 4x4 mt, '99 3.9 rc 4x2, '00 3.9 (3.7?) rc 4x2.

The RC is too small for me. Unfortunaly, the QC is too big for my liking. The CC is the ticket.

My suggestion is to keep looking. Especially if your truck runs now and you don't have to get rid of it right this second.

If you have an '00 and are looking for another '00, just wait till you find the cc 4x4 with the v8. It will come along, there are lots of them around.

If you travel or carry other people, don't waste you time with a CC unless you haul alot :)

I have a 01QC with 5.9 and like it very much, liked the look of my 99RC better, but the QC is very functional.
In a QC the difference between the 5.9 and 4.7 auto is not that great. Well ok, my dad has the 4.7 and you couldn't give me it LOL It does get 20+ mpg on the highway though and I only get 18-19. But I tow and there is no comparison using 3.55 gears.

If you tow heavy loads the gear splits in the manual tranny are much better than with the auto. You have more gear choices to keep the engine at its peak output and a reasonable road speed.

Manual: 4.01, 2.32, 1.40, 1.00, 0.73
Auto (on the 4.7): 3.00, 1.50/1.67, 1.00, 0.75

Like Crow318 said; if you're not in a rushed need to buy, look for what you want.

What's your left foot doing?

Same here. 01 QC 4x4 5.9L. Love it.
Rides great, hauls anything. 5 people comfortable.

I get 16-17 mpg on the highway also. I wasn't really big on the QC until we got it. Now it's the only way to fly. you Sacrifice a little bed space but the added interior space is GREAT

How's the power since they have a little added weight? Mainly I'm lookin for more power and most likely anything I get will be the 4.7, I wont get a reg cab unless I find one that's absolutely perfect but the more I look the more I want a quad cab.

Get a QC. Sure it's gonna be heavier than an RC, but you can give a power boost with a Superchips, cams, supercharger, whatever your wallet allows. But the added capabilities because of four doors and room for 5 can't be beat.

I love my 4.7L with a manual. I usually get 17 mpg (or a little better) unless I have too much fun romping on it. I wouldn't want it any other way.

I am happy with my Durango and it's auto tranny. It's a very good tranny, so if you had to go that route you wouldn't be making a bad choice.
