Subject: rear brake overadjusting
IP: Logged

Message:
My left rear brake has overadjusted and started dragging twice in the last couple weeks. First time, I backed off the adjuster, shot it with brake cleaner; all hardware looks o.k. Parking brake cables don't appear to be hanging up, seem to loosen when released, don't look rusty. Today its dragging again. Anyone familiar with a common cause/solution for this ?

If all is assembled correctly then it sounds like a hardware problem ....... like the shoes are rocking back and forth a bit to much? Throw a hardware kit at it and while your changing it out you probably will find the culprit.

Also the adjuster itself can be sticking within itself. Can only tell by taking it out and testing by hand.

So many problems .... So little time

Thanks for the tips guys. Found the cause taking it apart while it was still hanging up. Turned out to be caused be the wheel cylinder hanging up; have all new hardware too now.
