Hello,

I have a 1992 3.9 2WD Auto Ext. Cab with stock 15" wheels and I've noticed it takes a flippin' entire city block for me to turn around! I love my Dakota but when I drove my dad's Ford F150 I could turn on a dime.. And it seems like it would be harder to turn it than my truck.. what's the deal? Is there anything I can do to get my little truck to turn around a little better? It's just a little embarrassing having to do a 52-point turn around lol!

Thanks,
-Jason

Yes it is an extended cab. You just have to make 10 point turns when you want to turn these gen 11's around.

Same with my 1994 CC.
The huge turning radius is the only thing I don't like about my truck.
It's embarassing trying to do a U turn when I have someone with me.

ya I know.. it really is! A lot of people laugh and think I do it on purpose but the sad truth is I really do have to ride over the curb a lot of times to do a u-turn lol

That's weird. You would think a small truck would have a good turning radius. My 99 Dak and 2001 Durango both have good turning radiuses.

Just tromp on it and whip your truck around. Looks much more impressive....

ya, but sometimes Mr. Cop doesnt like the romping idea... plus in crowded cities it gets a little risky hehe... But it must be an extended cab thing because my friends 93 reg. cab turns nicely... Would a posi unit have an affect on turning?

I can't recall what the turning radius was before 1997, but the 1997-2004 Regular Cab was less than 36 feet, something that D-C pointed out in the sales brochures, even. I compared the radius to a 2001 Honda Civic once, and the GenIII Dak had a 5 inch SHORTER circle!! Of course, that's all history now; no more Regular Cabs after '04.

I think the problem is that an extended cab Dak is longer than an S10 or Ranger, but still steers the same. On an F150, like most full size trucks, the wheels sort of 'lay over' at full lock. At least the older ones do, I don't know about newer full sized. My 95 Dak is the same way.

Is there any type of modification I can do in order to get better steering or the 'lay over' you are talking about

My 03 cc 4x4 sucks azz I'm always going over the curbs funny at first but the novelty wears off. My ex's trailblazer could turn on a sidewalk.(not really, but close)lol.
