Has anyone else had their front PowerSlots warp on them? Mine have 12,280 miles on them and they are warped.
These things are supposedly "better than OEM" but my OEM rotors lasted 22,000 miles and were turned twice....
Crap for what I paid for these I could have put 3 sets of OEM rotors on the truck.

Are you sure they are warped? Have you actually place a dial indicater on them? Or a straight edge? With today's brake systems and materials, it's often difficult to tell. In the "olden days", it was pretty easy. When the pedal pulsated, they were warped and you bought new ones. Pretty simple. Not so any more.

Check them real close both sides for buildup from the pads. My factory rotors was resurfaced at I think 15,000 and gone again in a couple of thousands. I got NAPA best rotors and reused the factory pads. Pushing 70,000 and not a problem. Pads still look good too.

So many problems .... So little

Yeah they are warped the tech put a dial indicator on them and they're out I just don't know by how much yet he was gone by the time I got to return the phone call....
I talked with PowerSlot and they're claiming it's because I have Ceramic pads instead of ferro compound pads installed. They say the ceramic pads will "chunk off" and leave pieces on the rotor face which causes it to retain heat and eventually warp...
I think it's bull but hey all I know is after 12,230 miles my $100 front rotors have to be cut and it looks like I'm out about another $150 for replacement pads if I put Hawks on all 4 corners.

I'd consider Raybestos but I their PG Plus line promo material says the pads are "semi-metallic"...
Is that the same as ferro compound pads?

Grrrr...

I had them warp @ about 6k on wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee. The retailer replaced them for free and 2nd set so far has been good, over 25k on them. BTW have ceramic pads, didn't replace them after warp out so doubt the ceramic has anything to do with it.

I have stock brakes, everything, on my 01 QC, 4.7, manual, Trailer towing pack with the 11in rear drums, etc.

95,000 miles, all original.

Yea, I felt some pulsation ~ 22,000 or so, blew it off, it stopped, and like I said, still original brakes, rotors, ball joints, etc. Drives like a caddy, and I DON'T babby my truck!

Go figure

I found a problem that maybe the cause to some of the Dakota brake rotor warping issues. My factory rotors warped at about 12,000-15,000 miles. I replaced the rotors with Raybestos PG rotors and Bendix Fleet Semi-Metallic Pads. After only 6,000 miles or so the rotors warped again. Drove it a while with the warped rotors and on a long road trip my pads when metal to metal with the rotors. I bought a cheapo set of pads to get me home and then ordered new Bendix rotors and pads and OEM calipers. When installing the new parts, I discovered that one of the drivers side caliper slide pin/bolts was stuck. This caused uneven wear of the pad and excessive heat which warped the rotor. That was more than likely the problem with the original rotors and pads. Anyway after cleaning the pins and bores and re-lubricating with hi-temp brake grease the brakes are doing great at about 8,000 miles, (knocking-on-wood). From now on every other oil change I remove the calipers and check and service the slide pins if needed.

I warped the factory rotors at 12K on my '01 QC. Dealer wouldn't replace them for free, so I had them turned. Warped again at 20K. Enough is enough, so I had my personal mechanic install an after market rotor (not sure what brand) and never had any more problems and my truck had 80k when I traded it in.

So I ordered up Hawk LTS front n' rear pads to replace the ceramics and the tech is rechecking the front calipers and assembly to see if either are sticking or if something else is broken.
I guess I'm gonna have to start doing what QC is doing with the slide pins.

Arrghh....

Here are a few bits of info that I live by for brakes.

1. Heavy duty on one item only, that is HD rotors and regular duty semi-metalic pads. If you use HD for both, they wear hard against each other, and wear each other out.

2. Most people modifying their brake disks go for better venting. The cause of warping of almost anything is HEAT. Unless in a panic stop, don't make a habit of jamming on the brakes. Ease the brakes ON each time, hard enough to nearly stop, then ease up a little to vent them, then stop. "Like squeezing a tennis ball," I was taught. Takes some practice to not just jam the brakes at each stop. Need to anticipate stops better, and not tailgate either.

3. Torque all wheel nuts evenly to spec, usually 100 foot-pounds.

I keep them a long time that way. So far my 04 Dak 4X4 QC has original brakes, no trouble, at a bit over 20,000 miles. I expect to triple that without any trouble.

I have almost 38,000 miles on my factory brakes on my 03 dakota. I never had a problem with the rotors warping. sure sometimes I get a slight pulsation but goes away the next day.

but like choochoo said dotn wait till last minute to stop. I get on my wife about this all the time. when my brakes finally go I will go with power slots rotors on all 4 corners. gotta love 4wheel disks lol.

choochoo, let me add an additional tip for the readers to your already great list of suggestions.

Guys, If you must panic stop, after stopping, ease off the pedal slightly so the truck just creeps forward. This will keep the pads from creating a "hot spot" as they sit clamped on an already hot rotor.
