Yup. Someone showed both curves before.

The V6 has like 260 HP but less than that in TQ.

I think the 4.7 had about as much TQ at just over 2k RPM's as the Nissan or Toyo did peak!

When you go to tow, you will notice the big difference.

And don't even get me started when compairing the towing of a Ridgeline 3.4 V6 LOL!!!

I'd be winding that V-Tec SUV to the redline up a hill until it blew up!

Yeah, that was me some time back. As Kowalski and GraphiteDak have pointed out - sales info is a lie. True, the small V6s have been made to put out more HP, and close to the TQ of my V8 engine.

But when I am towing I generally never have to go much over 4000RPM (sometimes to 5000) and between 3400 and 4800 my engine is running between max TQ and max HP. Even when I am at 4800 I still have 1400RPM before redline. My usual engine speed when towing is between 2500-3000RPM and I am nearly at full TQ.

Hey, let's tow the same load with a Nissan or Toyota! To get near the same power I have to run the engine at 5600RPM. Where is the redline? How far am I from it? It's probably not an 8000RPM engine. Oh, and how much gas will it be gulping?

From a mechanical longevity perspective I'd rather be running my engine at half its rated speed pulling the load instead of near it's full speed. It's gonna last a lot longer.

You can have your useless sales hype. If you really wanted to tow something serious with a Nissan or Toyota get the Titan or Tundra. Their V8 engines put out power curves that are useable for something other than going fast.

What's your left foot doing?

When driving normally to and from school I never even take it above 2500! Maybe 3000 when merging after a stoplight.
Gotta love that V8 torque!
What I really like is where the 318 has it's power band. When I accellerate hard on the highway, I can feel when it hits it's peak power, around 3500-4500 Rpm and I love when I hold first gear and let off the gas and step on it. It literally throws me back in the seat. I also have 3.91 LSD which helps get those 31" tires moving.

The thing that got me was when I was looking for a Dak last year I test drove a 2001 4.7 and I almost quit looking at them. It had to of had the death flash, because my brother's v6 mustang felt faster. My opinion of the 4.7 changed big time when I test drove another one. I offered money but they wanted more :)
Anyways, I really wanted that one, and a third 4.7 I test drove, but found my current 1998 loaded with extras (rhino liner, flowmaster, Advance [K-cover] folding tonneau, custom dash cover, *sigh* and jet chip) at a deal too good to pass up. So I ended up with my 318 which I love just as much as the 4.7. Maybe a little bit more :)
