good morning, good evening, (thought I'd start off with a greeting)

so I buy a truck, 98 5.2 4wd excab. my second dakota.
when I take off out of first, it shivers and shakes and sometimes hops like crazy, drives me insane, I'm almost 98% sure its not me I've have literally only drove manuals all my life. so something is wrong here, hope you can help me start to trouble shoot.
if it helps any, I had my clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, changed about a year ago, but not the flywheel. thanx for the help

If you have a two-piece driveshaft, check the carrier bearing.

Trying to deside if you mean it does this while you are ingaging the cluch or after as more power is applied. Also knowing when this started would help. Assuming this is a fairly new thing, I have 2 ideas. If it does this after cluch is out and your applying power, could be a busted motor or transmission mount or just missing bolts. If it does it as your engaging the cluch it could still be the same problem or it could be oil on your cluch plate. Also possible your cluch matterial has come lose or a chunk fell off. there are other Things could be wrong in your drive line but going with your discription, I'm leaning to what I said.
Any chance they replaced the cluch parts with rebuilt junk????
So many problems ,,,, So little time

I agree with OBIO3, it sounds like a piece of the clutch material has fallen off. If you got your clutch done only a year ago I would go back to the shop where it was done. Your clutch should have a warranty.

I think it could probably be that my clutch is falling to pieces, just recently I was changing my oil and noticed some pieces sticking out of the bottom of the transmission bell. No luck on finding the reciept, it was bought and installed in Texas over the summer. I am now stationed in Camp Pendleton California.
I will check the mounts and then if I don't find any problem I'll check the cllutch. its weird though, if it were mounts wouldn't it do it when I go in all the gears,2,3,4,5, not just the first?
