Subject: 2003 QC AIr Bag Light

Message:
I have a 2003 4x4 QC that the air bag light and chime continue to activate. The chime will sound and the light will light, stay on about 1-2min, and turn back off. A minute or two later, sometimes more, it will happen again.

The problem started by only occuring when I would turn sharply to the left, and has worsened to it's current state. Do any of you have a clue what this may be or have experienced this before?

I am planning to take it in but due to a nasty schedule won't be able to until later this week. Any help you guys can give would be much appreciated. Thanks!

i had the same problem in 99 dakota... when i would turn the wheel my airbag light would light but also my horn would blow.... but your problem is the what they call a clock spring that is behind your steering wheel.... its black housing that has wire ribbon that centered for the wheel to able to turn equal turns left and right and so that all your accessories that steering wheel mounted for them to work.... that has gone bad and you need to replace it.... but be carefull when intstalling it... they have a lock on them that needs to pulled but when you pull it dont turn the center part of it cause its centered so it will be able to turn equally with the steering wheel

better think twice about doing it yourself - if the airbag should go off when you are working on it you could be badly injured
