 Subject: Brake light on!!!

I was driving around town when all of sudden I looked down and saw the dreaded Brake light on, and the (ABS) light on.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!!!???
I know obviously that there's something wrong with the brakes or ABS, but it was braking fine, I had no problems for about 5-6 miles to get back home.
Once I saw that, I noticed the Speedometer was not reading below 20mph. It would go back to zero when i slowed down to 20mph, and then from a stop it wouldn't start reading again till I got up to 25.
I have read something about the crazy speedometer before on here. I was just wondering what the 2 problem are, or could be.

there have been a lot of post on here stating that changing the RWSS(rear wheel speed sensor) will fix that. it's in the center section of the rear diff.

Yup, seems the speed sensor went out. Located on the differential.

How hard is it to put it in? Or how much labor cost it would be?

Took my truck by the shop the other day, they said it was a "speed sensor", didn't say if it was the "rear wheel sensor" or not. Haven't had it worked on yet...
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MUCH THIS PART SHOULD COST?

Got it fixed!
Ended up being the "Vehicle Speed Sensor", AND the "Rear Wheel Speed Sensor"(RWSS).
Anyway, it's fixed. The VSS corrected the speedometer and the RWSS fixed the "lights on" problem on the dash.

I had the same ABS/ brake light problem on my 95 4x4 and disconnected, then reconnected the battery just as the service manual said to and it cleared itself. Hope the service department did "take you".

Well, I took it to a Firestone(that I trust), and they SAID that the sensors had gone bad. They had put them on a tester.

Yeah, I knew what you meant, I didn't even realize you said "did", I read it as didn't.
And as far as I know, they tested them, or at least said they did.
