I want to add a cat back exhaust to my 05' 4.7.
I am trying to decide between a Gibson or a Magnaflow.(or whats best)
Does anyone have any advice for this?
I cant really use their websites for info because of course they both say they are the best.
Any input would be great!

This is a subject that has been posted here many times. Of course everyone has an opinion regarding this issue.
I had a Magnaflow (not sure what part #) single in dual out installed on my QC 4x4 with 4.7L about 3 years ago and have been very happy with it. Sounds good, has a nice mellow V8 rumble to it, but is not annoying at highway speed or on long trips. It cost $190 installed at a local muffler shop. Just my .02 cents. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I'm looking into the same thing as you for my 05 4.7 Dakota. The Flowmaster at Summit #FLO 17414 is looking pretty good to me for the price and the sound level.I'm a little over 50 and I don't care for real loud anymore.I'll probably end up ordering it this week.

I have a Flowmaster on my 98 3.9 V6. The harmonic noise in the cab is irritating. It allows me to drive about 10 MPH faster at the same MPG. No improvement at low speeds.
The best thing I did was install Gibson headers. Scary acceleration, better MPG and it runs better around 2,000 RPM, where the engine lives.

I went for a ride in a friends durango with the same 4.7L and a flowmaster. I did not like the sound at 70-75MPH.
I heard a gibson on a 4.7 on a recording as well.
It sorta sounded strange...Like the backpressure released 1/2 sec. after the deceleration...
Not a good sound at all.
I was at the car wash the other day and a guy had a Ram with a 4.7 and the Magnaflow...
He revved it a bit for me and I could tell right away it was the sound I was looking for.
I saw this link in ebay.
It sort of seems too good to be true at this price though.
What do you all think?
