In cold weather my truck acts really strange. It will start then immediatly shut right off. So i start it again and it runs really crappy and has little backfires and such but after about 1 min of driving it runs perfec. what could be causing this behavior? could it just be the truck is cold?

Try hooking your vacuum cleaner to the tailpipe. The suction should keep the engine running.

When you say "cold," how cold are we talking about?

you may want to have your battery load tested. a weak battery can cause those symptoms.

I agree with daddio - mine started right up and woild die unless I kept my foot on the pedal keeping the revs up. It seemed like the choke wasn't working. It didn't do it every single morning though. Then the battery died and I put a new one in. After the new battery it never happened again.

Still might want to get it checked. My Firebird has killed a battery in under a year before. Also clean your battery contacts up.

Weightset - might be worth checking like daddio says anyway; another possibility would be a dirty IAC on the TB.

4.7onN2O - still got that firechicken ? A broken ground strap between motor and body can overcharge the battery; took me a long time to figure that out on a Tempest once.

Yup but the motor is out of it right now. I rolled a lobe on my brand new $250 small base custom ground cam. GRRRRR! I may have lost a cam bearing. Ill checkout that ground strap when im throwing it back in.
