Greeting All.
Does the '97 Dakotas have an ashtray light? I've had mine for 2 years and there was never a light shining in the tray. I've looked but could never find a bulb or recepticle, looked in my manual and they have a bulb size listed, but I sure can't find where to put it. Thanks for the help.

I never use my ashtray so I'll have to look tomorow after my wife gets home with it. It may have been one of those options that was only available as part of the SLT package that year. I'll report back.

my 98 slt cc has one, but dont know if it was an upgraded option on top of the slt package, cause i bought it used a year ago

OK, Thanks for the info.
Seems kinda silly not to have an ashtray light.
I thought it was standard on all vehicles. Guess they were trying to save a few pennies.

Probably part of the light package. My '98 Sport has one, with the light package.

I have the light package on my 2000 dak and I don't have a light.
By the way is it supposed to come with a removeable tray, both of my daks didnt have one?

Well I checked my 97 SLT and it has a light in the ashtray so I guess it was one of those things only offered on the SLT. Some "luxury" items were not available on the Sport and some things on the Sport (like the handling package back then) and I guess this is one of them.
The light is in the top surface. You know where the instructions are for removing the ashtray? Well a couple of inches back just left of center is a cutout approximately 1/2 " X 3/4" and the bulb is right there. Sorry, I haven't looked into changing it so I can't help there.
