how efficient is the K&N air filter in the stock air box for a v6 or will a home brew kit prove
better results.

when you say efficient. do you A) mean filtering dirt or B) how much better air flow you get over stock.

you have to remember that with increase air flow. you have to sacrafice filtration. you cant have both. a study has been done on K&N filters and has shown it doenst filter out the dirt and stuff like a stock air filter does. after all why does K&N say nto to use in off road driving unless you have their foam cover over the filter. tells you right there it allows more dirt by compared to stock filters.

In my looking at the K&Ns again, the HP gains are done at high RPM. High enough that it didn't warrant me purchasing one for my 02 QC 4x4. I'm only going to be driving 3200rpm+ during extreme hard acceleration so i won't see any gains.
