Today, my '99 Dokota 4x4 was traded in...Had no choice, tired of service department (severe engine ping)..and constant ball-joint replacements..only 48000km both uppper and lower joints replaced (at 35000km)..it will be due again by summer..and warrenty will be finished..estimate is around $1000 for both upper and lower..loved the truck but the maintenance is a killer..also did that pcm flash...it hurt me as its harder on gas,less power (v8 318) and they do not go back.. its a sad day,,but tired of MOPAR sounding like a cummings diesel!!!..It's F150 day now, but hope to be back in the near future...very soon..(Proud Dakota owner,hiding behind an F150)..

Sorry you felt you had to trade, nect time try a different dealer. The biggest problem I have found with Chrsyler Corp since 1968 has been poor service departments.
Hope you have good luck with the Ford but I won't hold my breath. Let's just say I know too many Ford Mechanics and the only reason they drive them is they can get parts cheap. Ford quality has dropped in the last 10 years.
