I am ase-certified in brakes. I bought my
Dakota with brake issues the exact ones
you mentioned in fact. I put a new master
cylinder on and of course I did it
correctly and I'm having the same problem.
I'm a tech at a Chevrolet dealership and
I'm very aware on how to bleed brakes and
how to install Master cylinders. I have a
friend who is a Master Tech for Dodge and
he said that it is most likely your ABS
pump more specifically the solenoids
inside of it. They said that the seals go
bad and it feels like the master cylinder
is bad but it's actually the solenoids
inside of the pump so if you bypass the
ABS pump you will not have abs obviously,
but you will have good old school brakes.
If you can drive, and you're not in areas
that are icy it should be okay.
