I assume you mean that at 4,000 it is shifting EARLY :)

I'd still think it isn't pulling the TV cable far enough. You kind of need two people to set that cable good.

As far as that other guy goes, he probably has a V6 in front of his awesome manual tranny. I wouldn't worry about him :)

Its funny when the Manual guys poke fun of the auto guys. I would never want a long manual shifter in a truck. I drove a 5 speed 318 in the same package as my truck and it was no different in accleration. My auto will snap your head back and barks the tires on a downshift anytime a punch it from 2nd gear.

Adjust the throttle cable...here's how.

Unclip it from the throttle lever. Look at the black plastic clip...it will have a line in the center (where it clips on to the post) Pull the cable far enough to take up the slack. Don't actually make the cable slide, just take up the slack. Hold the black plastic clip up to (on the outside of) the post on the throttle lever. If the line does not line up with the center of the post it needs adjusted.

To adjust, pull up the locking clip where the cable goes through the bracket. Only pull it up about half way, just enough to unlock the cable. Take the slack up on the cable and check your mark. If it's dead center push the clip down and recheck. If it's off center...slide the cable case (black part) while keeping the slack out of the cable. Line up the mark with the center of the post and reclip the clip. Recheck and adjust until its dead center.

Sounds complicated but it's very easy. I could show you in about 30 seconds.
