I am looking for a set of front two hooks for a 2002 QC 4x4.
I found a set that was $90. Anyone found them cheaper? I found individual tow hooks with 10,000 lb rating for $7.99 + shipping but the mounting point is wrong. The mounting holes are parallel to the hook and I need it to be perpendicular.
Perhaps I can fab some sort of mounting kit to turn the hooks 90 degrees from the mounting holes, however not knowing much about metal strength i am not sure what the actually load would be.
The 10k lb ones say they fit any bumper mounting kit. I did a search but did not find any bumper mounting kit that would allow me to turn the mounting 90 degrees.
anyone else encounter this problem?

i don't think we need em'. i've had to pull other trucks out that had tow hooks already on them.

Thanks SteveJ. On my dakota, the mount point that I see is on the bottom of the frame. So those same hooks would be exactly what I am looking for. This would allow me to have the hooks not point down but sideways (parallel to bumper) which is what I want. If I get the "universal" tow hooks, the would need to be mounted to the side of the frame as you did and they would still be mounted like I want.
I will take a closer look, might be better to mount to side than bottom of frame.
There's a salvage yard between home and work, I'll call them on monday and ask...don't as me why but they are only open mon-fri 8a or 9a to 5pm. It's nice getting off work at 2pm but kind of sucks going in at 5am.

Someone posted plans for some hooks he'd fabricted years ago, to fit thru the air damn.
I'm interested too, but that link doesn't work for me.

Didn't I see somewhere on this forum that Chevy S-10 hooks from a junkyard also work fine on a Dak?
